And if you want to share more, your least favorite...

My favorite subject is history. I hated history when I was in school. It was so dull then. I think it must have been because I always had dry textbooks to learn from. Now that I'm teaching history to my own children using living books I'm absolutely enthralled with it. I never imagined dead people could be so fascinating.

My least favorite subject by far is grammar. Diagramming sentences will never enthrall me.

I like science. I was never interested in science in school, but there are sooo many cool things out there to experiment with. My son loves science so we try to get as much in as we can. My girls love it too, but they still are young enough to prefer art.

My least? hmmmm. Grammer, yes is very dull. I'd have to say reading. My son is a struggling reader and now I'm trying to teach reading to my girls, one of which has a severe speech articulation issue. It becomes frustrating.

have a great day everyone!

I don't think I've found one that I don't like yet, it also might be that we're just starting out and everything is so interesting!

Reading instruction is something I could skip, spelling and grammar- although interesting they don't tug at the heart strings.

History, Bible, science, art, music, reading aloud I love! Also, discipline and training- can't we just send them off to a boot camp and have them come back? Lol.

Ah, what a question!

We sometimes ask this question around the dinner table! (as in, what is/wasyour favorite subject in school) Most recently this is how it went...

Kids made their replies and DH probably said science...then it was my turn and DH and the kids interrupte in unison and said "READING". We all had a good laugh but I had to say history/reading...Reading would really be it because then I can study or teach ANY subject! But Sonlight has brought history ALIVE for me. I HATED, Hated, hated history in school. I even hated reading if one can believe THAT! My dad was a reader and one of my five siblings (I was the oldest) was a reader. No one taught me that reading could be fun. No one even TRIED to make history fun, except maybe my SR. American History teacher.

We are doing core 4 with Sonlight, American History from 1860- present. What a GREAT time period! Our children are: 11, 10, 6, 5 and 10 months.
This time around I even enjoy teaching reading. I sweated it the first time through and then read some of John Holt's books and realized that God gives us an INNATE ability to UNDERSTAND the written word! Amazing what a revelation that was. So I am not pushing so hard this time and they are learning almost as quickly but on their terms and so I believe it is more meaningful!

The little boys love math and do as many pages a day as they wish.

The oldest loves science and is doing a project right now.

#2 is a talented artist.

This baby is going to be a reader because I have nursed her longer than any baby and I always have a book in hand when nursing!

If anyone wants to learn more about Sonlight, please ask. I love to share our joy!

We have always home schooled (Ohio and Illinois) and we have been with Sonlight since mid-year 2003.

I'm a kid so I don't teach subjects to my kids (I don't have any).
I used to know what my favourite subject was, history. I still love history but now I like science ( especially physics) and I love reading and writing novels.
I used to hate math, but now I find it okay. Not my favourite, but I don't hate it.
I like art and music but hate music theory.
I try to keep up my French and learn Japanese, but I'm not doing a good job!

bookykid - What physics curriculum do you use? My husband is teaching that subject to our 17 year old next year.

I currently don't have any physics curriculum but "Intergrated Physics and Chemistry" has been ordered. You can see sampe pages at their website :http://www.pacworks.com/downloads.htm
I printed of a bit of their curriculum and really enjoyed it. It's for about high school level so your 17 year old might find it good.

History and Bible are my favorites! We are doing more missions stuff this year too, and am looking forward to that.

I like Reading/Literature (this includes phonics and teaching our little ones how to read--love it!) and Science!
