I'm looking for some good books for babies and toddlers. I need books for kids under 3 and am looking fr suggestions.

Pat the Bunny is a classic, and one I always recommend. But it doesn't have a very sturdy binding.

It all depends what those babies and toddlers are interested in and how much experience they have with books already. Pat the Bunny is a great "experiential" sort of book but our little one will have nothing to do with Pat the Bunny, presumably because the artwork is pale, but loves anything by Lois Ehlert.

In general, I've found that Eric Carle, Bill Martin, Jr., and Cyndy Szekeres are nice for the littlest ones on up. Caps for Sale is a lot of fun to read aloud and act out. Frank Asch's Bear books have a certain sweet appeal. The Little Monster books by Mercer Mayer are especially nice for the 2-3 year olds as they can often relate to Little Monster's situations and feelings. Books by Esra Jack Keats such as Whistle for Willy or The Snowy Day also seem to click with little people. Make sure to whistle at the right moments while reading the former aloud. Tasha Tudor is nice for those who like the paler colors and more detailed illustrations as are any books illustrated by Eloise Wilkins.
Hope this gives you a start!

Margaret Miller has her Baby Face series which is great for babies. Peek-a-Boo Baby and Baby Faces are great ones by Miller. Sandra Boynton's books are really funny, have adorable illustrations and are even fun for the parents! Barnyard Dance, Snuggle Puppy and Moo Baa La La La are all great choices. Also, Karen Katz is another great author for babies and toddlers. A lot of hers tend to be lift-and-flap books, but some like Daddy Hugs 123 are just board books. These are all in board book format.

I agree with all of these wonderful titles and authors. Also McBratney's Guess how much I love you and Margaret Wise Brown's Goodnight moon and Runaway bunny

I just wrote a blog post on my favorite rhyming books for kids - almost all of which are perfect for babies and toddlers, Time for Bed being my absolute favorite.

I agree with librarianmom26. Sandra Boynton and Karen Katz are great books for babies. Also good are Spot and Maisy books.
