I just finished Mr Darcy, Vampyre by Amanda Grange which is, of course, a take on Pride and Prejudice. I didn't like this particular book but others did. Another Darcy vampire book is soon to be released and at the end of the year Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is supposed to be released. I think, if done well, these are fun twists. Any other thoughts?

Mr Darcy, Vampire is waiting for me at the library, so I'll let you know how I like it.
Vampire Darcy's Desire is due out in December.

I enjoyed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, so I agree that if done well they can be funny twists on old stories. (The next Jane Austen parody is going to be Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. I think they should do Persuasion and Vampires!)

I'll probably check out Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter but I don't usually like historical figures as vampires. I recently read Touch the Dark and didn't like how the author didn't bother with characterization and just used historical figures for many of the older vampire characters.

I've only heard good things about Pride and Prejudice and Zombies which I will buy when I go get the highly anticipated Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.

What next? Wuthering Heights with Dinosaurs?

Charles, you had better copyright that idea!

I recently read Mr Darcy, Vampyre and it just didn't do it for me. The idea was good, but the characters did not do justice to the original versions. Lizzy in particular had lost all her spark. She's being kidnapped and all she can think to do is write a letter and chuck it out the window? The book seemed aimed at a very young audience.

I'm looking forward to the other books using this theme though. I'm still in love with the idea of Austen vampires!

Queen Victoria, Demon Hunter. Now there is something I'd like to see. Should be made into a movie by Terry Gilliam
