I read this book about 8-10 years ago, I think when it was first published. It involves a boy who is part of an all-boys school theatre group (possibly from an American school? Think the protagonist was American) who are taking part in a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Globe Theatre in London. The boy wakes up to find himself actually in Elizabethan London, and part of Shakespeare's theatre troupe. Can't remember if the author was English or American. Anyone remember this?

That sounds like King of Shadows by Susan Cooper.

King of Shadows is one of those books that can be read over and over again. It's timeless, wondrous, and if you haven't read it - no matter your age - you should.
