I was really pleased to see Michael Crichton's new/last novel Pirate Latitudes cropping up all over the place. I'm about halfway through, and it reminds me quite a lot of (a less Disney) Pirates of the Caribbean. Has anybody else read it?

What do you think?

I read it quite a while a go on my Kindle. Really enjoyed it. In some ways it reminded me of the original POTC film.

I would enjoy listening to it on audio, should I come across that version.

Crichton always managed to take a genre and turn it upside down from the norm. It would have been interesting to see what he would have done if he had polished the final work himself.

I just got it but probably won't get to read it for a few months. Good to know that you all liked it.

Ambros - My favorite pirate book is A Pirate of Exquisite Mind: Explorer, Naturalist, and Buccaneer: The Life of William Dampier by Diana Preston. A true adventure!
