Can anyone tell me who wrote "An Essay on the Genius, Works, and Times of Baxter", found in
The Practical Works of Richard Baxter: An Essay on His Genius, Works, and Times; And a Portrait or in Christian Directory?

I would suggest doing a direct messaeg via LT to the members listed as owning The Practical Works you've linked to above.

Here's the info from Westminster Seminary, Philadelphia:
BX5200 .B392 1981
Baxter, Richard, 1615-1691.
The practical works of Richard Baxter : select treatises.
Grand Rapids, Mich. : Baker Book House, c1981.
xliv, 956 p. ; 22 cm.
Reprint. Originally published: Blackie and Son, 1863.
Theology, Practical > 17th century.

My guess it was done by Orme, who edited the multi-volume set of Baxter's works. Same Orme who wrote a bio of John Owen.
Find 'em all online at The Internet archive - www.archive.org Search by title or author from the texts section; Americana collection.

Thanks, cad_lib.

I think I found the answer.

Based on page 18 of "What we must do to be saved?" (By Richard Baxter, Alexander Balloch Grosart) and available on Google Books (http://books.google.com/books?id=UDg3AAAAMAAJ&lpg=RA1-PA18&ots=kR9jDr7BF...), it looks like the author of the essay is Henry Rogers.
