Alfonso Reyes in English

Can anybody suggest a good representative
of his work in English?

I can't seem to find one in Amazon.

That's because there isn't one available. Despite being labelled the best prose writer in Spanish by Borges Reyes is more or less unavailable in English translation.

According to the excellent 'Kirjasto' site - http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/reyes.htm - Position of American and Other Essays, Mexico in a Nutshell and Other Essays, and Criticism and the Roman Mind have all been published in English, though they're all out of print. I was able to find copies of the first two works at http://www.bookfinder.com .

His works are hard enough to find in Spanish (sigh). I've been trying to get a copy of Prosa y poesía but my last order from Alibris ended up cancelled. I haven't read anything of Reyes's other than that, but I found his writing very elegant and comprehensible.
