World building was great, we're back in New York and while it takes the masses (and Elena herself) a lot of getting used to being back, this is her home. Their home...
As the book continues and we go to different locations, all scenes and environments were well described and clear, letting you, as the reader, focus fully on the actual story.

Character development was super. Elena and Raphael have grown and changed a lot over the last few books. Boundaries were set, tested and respected from both sides. When reading the story you feel the relationship between the two setting and evolving. Elena has to face her fears once more in this book, but now Raphael is evermore at her side throughout it all.
The support cast were well fleshed out and have a say in how the story continues, they each feel very different and real (or well... as far as that is possible :D).

Pacing and flow were great! While there was a decent amount of action, it wasn't all about kicking ass, but more about the hunt and search for assassins and Raphael's mother, well.. and keeping people safe (of course).

The book itself was well written with no (noticeable) errors. There is sex described in this book (if that is important to you).

All in all a really nice continuation of the series, some new and unexpected revelations that just make you want to read the next installment asap! :D ( )

Dopo un lunghissimo anno di attesa è finalmente arrivato anche in Italia il terzo volume di questa bellissima serie targata Nalini Singh.

Ritroviamo una Elena che ha preso una maggiore confidenza con le sue ali, ma non abbastanza da soddisfare il suo arcangelo iperprotettivo. Il che infastidirebbe parecchio se non fosse che Elena rischia grosso in almeno un paio di situazioni se Raphael non fosse intervenuto. Molto intelligente da parte della Singh mostrarci queste difficoltà condite con informazioni sulla meccanica del volo: rende tutto molto più verosimile.
Siamo alle solite, quindi, per chi conosce Raphael ed Elena: abbiamo due caratteri dominanti in netto contrasto e nessuna intenzione di transigere su alcune questioni (sicurezza per Raphael, libertà per Elena). Non basta quindi l'amore a far andare avanti la coppia... ci vuole confronto, fiducia, compromesso... e una discussione dietro l'altra sembra che i due se la cavino egregiamente.
Veniamo così a sapere altri dettagli sul passato di Raphael e di Elena, ed entrambi riceveranno qualche sorpresina sul fronte famiglia...

Un punto dolente del romanzo è la massiccia presenza di scene di sesso non proprio necessarie. Un fatto che mi ha abbastanza sorpreso e che è in decisa controtendenza rispetto ai primi due... spero che nei prossimi la Singh riequilibri la trama tra azione e romance.

Un punto a favore, invece, si dimostra ancora una volta la presenza dei Sette. Li adoro tutti quanti, anche Venom lo Str****. Sette anime tormentate, ma avvolte nel mistero (non si sa esattamente cosa nascondano nel loro passato...), che ci fanno morire dalla voglia di vederli sistemati e felici...
In Tra le braccia della notte vediamo principalmente l'immancabile Dmitri, Illium, Venom, Jason e Aodham. Di Illium, in particolare, conosciamo la madre, Colibrì, e la sua presenza stuzzica oltremodo la nostra curiosità per la reazione dell'angelo blu più adorabile della letteratura... e ci viene spontaneo maledire la discrezione di Elena per non voler chiedergli cosa l'abbia turbato così tanto!

Insomma, alla fine mi aspettavo qualcosina di più. Forse anche complice l'attesa tra un libro ed un altro... spero che nel prossimo libro la Singh riprenda il suo ritmo di sempre! ( )

Cuando la cazadora de vampiros Elena Deveraux se convirtió en un ángel, con unas magníficas alas de los colores de la medianoche y el amanecer, volvió su mundo del revés. Su amante, el increíblemente peligroso arcángel Rafael, la utiliza para tener el control, incluso siendo la mujer que considera suya.
Pero Elena no le ha ido bien con la autoridad ..., sobretodo cuando parece que Rafael es el que necesita su ayuda. Los arcángeles puede ser muy poderosos, pero hay algunas cosas que sólo el gremio de los Cazadores puede llevar a cabo, y para Elena y Rafael puede ser la investigación más peligroso todavía.

This series hasn't particularly captured me by this point, but my library has the whole series on audiobook, and the narrator is Justine Eyre, who I especially like, and they're just kind of easy to listen to. And I still might get more into them as they go, so I plan to continue. ( )

The Guild Hunter series has a really interesting story arc to it. I find all of the character's to be very intriguing even the ones that I hate. Nalini Singh can always be trusted to write a series that has engaging characters and a full and fascinating story. ( )
