Love all her stories, always look forward to the little whiffs of magical realism. Her books are like dessert. ( )

This might be my favorite Sarah Addison Allen book yet. A tiny bit of magical mystery and a touch of love story but mostly a story about friendship and finding your place the world. ( )

Not the best one she’s written. But not the worst book I have ever read.

I liked the sub characters more than the main.

I listened to the audiobook. Karen White was the narrator. Although she has a lovely voice, you can hear her take every breath. That was annoying. ( )

Even though I read so much, there are very few authors that I actively seek out, but Sarah Addison Allen is one of them… I write, even though this book came out in 2011… Okay, so books slip between the cracks sometimes!

Allen is a master at combining magical realism with fantastic characters and wonderful storylines, along with all the good parts that come from the South. When I read one of her books I know I’m going to get some folklore mixed with Southern food, parties, and a bit of scandal. I love how her characters from other books make appearances in various stories even though they are not all part of the same series. This has always been something I enjoy whether it’s via books or movies.

Even though there were multiple storylines weaving through three different generations, Allen was able to combine them seamlessly into a fantastical tale of love, loss, and friendship. And I really enjoyed how Paxton and Willa were complete opposites who complimented each other so well. And both of their love interests were so harmonious, not only with their partner, but with the group as a whole, which made The Peach Keeper even more delightful.

If you couldn’t tell already, I highly recommend The Peach Keeper… and everything Sarah Addison Allen writes. :) ( )

This book was an enjoyable combination of romance, mystery, and character. The characters are well drawn and likable. The mystery's primary purpose is bringing the characters together and moving them forward, not keeping readers on the edges of our seats. The romance was enough to make for a satisfying ending, but it was never predictable enough to know how it would turn out for all four main characters. I'm not a big reader of supernatural stories, but this one pulled off its magical elements well...just enough to give atmosphere, where all of it could almost be read as superstitions of the characters, but not enough to be off-putting to readers who aren't drawn to magic and ghosts. The setting in a small town in the mountains of North Carolina is fascinating and compelling and helps give this novel a feel I haven't found elsewhere. All in all, it is an easy, enjoyable read. ( )

The day Paxton Osgood took the box of heavy-stock, foil-lined envelopes to the post office, the ones she'd had a professional calligrapher address, it began to rain so hard the air turned as white as bleached cotton.
