Didn't get into the CSI magic thing. Love her Retriever series. Think this is just my preference, not for any lack of skill on author's part. ( )

Still had the zing of the first one. Pretty good plot and a little bit more charater development in this one. The third one comes out in a few months so I will definitely be reading it. ( )

I'm not usually a fan of police procedurals, but I do enjoy the characters in this series and it keeps me reading. ( )

I'm really enjoying this series. This second book had a great main plot, although it's hard to get used to the 'bad guy' not being brought forth and made to face justice. This series is about a team that finds out the facts about what happened during a crime, not about bringing the perpetrators of the crime to justice. It doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the story, but it's different. Feels a bit unfinished. I found the secondary plot to be neglected; there was a resolution to it without there being much storyline in front of it: you saw the characters plotting it, and you saw the protagonists ending it, but almost nothing in between. Made that feel very disjointed. I love the main characters, each is interesting, amusing and compelling in their own right. I can't wait for the next book in the series. ( )

Bonnie and the other “pups” are back in action. This time an old and presumably honorable Asian unicorn has killed a man who allegedly tried to rape his virginal companion—a sad and troubling case that is more complicated than it appears. Meanwhile, her attraction to her boss continues to create interesting tension around the office—and their bond seems to be strengthening. I found this one more intriguing right from the beginning than the first one. ( )
