Very cute, and a nice story for a low energy parent

One of the cats is a grump, and picky, but in the end it saves the other cat's hat and says that just sitting relaxing with someone you love is worthwhile. ( )

This is a book intended for early readers. This book would be great preschool, kindergarten and 1st grade. It is great for new vocabulary but it isn't too work heavy.

This book is about 2 cats. One is named Mac and one is named Cheese. Mac loves everything and enjoys to play. Cheese doesn't like many things and does not like to play. Cheese likes to sit quietly with Mac. Cheese is grumpy. If Mac says yes, Cheese says no. Mac has a blue hat that cheese doesn't like and it goes flying. Cheese goes chasing after the hat. He has to try new things to get the hat. When he gets back he asks Mac if they can just sit a relax.

This book was cute. It might be funny for little kids. I would use this in my classroom for new readers. It is very simple vocabulary and is a great way to introduce students to reading. ( )

Opinion: I do not like "Mac and Cheese" for several reasons. First, the illustrations are not very attractive for children. I feel they are a bit creepy to be in a picture book containing rudimentary poetry. Which brings me to my next reason, which is the boring and empty plot. It is decently entertaining due to its use of rhyme and the playful characters, named "Mac" and "Cheese". Other than that, there is no big idea or message that I can find. ( )

This book is an example of a modern fantasy, because the characters talk and do human like things. The text has a rhythmic meter to it, which will appeal to children. The characters, Mac and Cheese are cats who are expressive and whimsical. Mac is a busy cat which likes to pounce, and skip, unlike Cheese who likes to sit and watch the world go by. This odd pair of cats are the best of friends and show that friends don't always see eye to eye.

This is a great book for children that are beginning to read because it contains easy to read words and has rhymes which make the text predictable. It is also a great story to show that although people may have different personalities, they can still get along. This is a great book to show the young readers the importance of empathy and compromise in a friendships. This could be used for a text-set for young readers on friendship and/ or personality. I would recommend this book to students in grades 1-3.
