Van 1963 tot 1984 heeft Seth met onze wereld gecommuniceerd. Hij gebruikte de fysieke aanwezigheid van Jane Roberts (8 mei 1929 - 5 september 1984) om zijn grote kennis en inzichten met ons te delen.
Dit boek is het eerste voltooide werk dat Robert Butts, de echtgenoot van Jane, klaarmaakte voor posthume publicatie. Seth zet hierin uiteen hoe de materiële wereld tot stand kwam door middel van 'bewustzijnseenheden' en dat het ogenblik van de schepping nooit eindigt. De mensheid droomde de taal en technologie die ze later zou gebruiken, evenals de noodzakelijke aanpassingen die ze onderging toen de droomwereld doorbrak tot fysieke realiteit.
