This is a story that shows the hardships that homeless children have gone through in the Haitian community. The moral of the story is that the community needs to be there for each other and build each other up. ( ) In my opinion this is a good book, with a lot of emotions attached to it. I liked this book because the writing and language contains a lot of emotion to it. The characters make the story believable because they describe about how they became homeless, and it allows children to connect to the text. For example, the beginning of the story begins with the text of Not so long ago and not so far away, people with guns could take a family, burn a house, and disappear, leaving a small child alone in the world. This sets the emotions for the rest of the story. The child has become friends with other homeless children and those children told how they had become homeless. One family was leaving on an old ferry boat and the child got off the ferry to get something and when he returned the boat has fallen apart and the family was all gone. Another child has become homeless because his family didn’t have enough room for anyone in their house so the child had left. Another child was sleeping when his family told him to hide, there was yelling and then silence and when the child came out from hiding everyone was gone. The last child mother had moved the family but then go sick and died and then the brother died leaving the child alone. The children in this book had done everything just to make a little money so they should survive and create a house for themselves. The community had come together to help create a shelter for them but then some people had burned it down. The community had come together even closer to help rebuild and get other people involved by going on the radio. The whole story is full of emotion because it describes how homeless children try to make a live for themselves and people keep destroying it for them. The message of this story is that communities need to stay tight and help each other out no matter what happens. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
