She gives a basic understanding about the different causes for betrayal, and the best approach to dealing with being betrayed. In a nutshell, she recommends taking the higher road and “finding yourself” rather than losing your soul to the consumption and obsession centered with revenge. She even talks about there being a silver lining and that betrayals can bring out good things – mostly from the idea that when someone closes a door, somewhere a window opens. I guess I can see where she’s coming from.
There is one example, to which she illustrates the obsession with revenge. Imagine yourself trying to dig up a cookie from the dirt. All the while, there is a three-course meal sitting nearby, with all the people who love and care about you. You are so obsessed that you don’t even notice the meal and the people – while they see you and can’t get you to see them. The whole example really hit home for me – if I remember anything from this book, it’ll be that example. Excellent work, Dr. S! ( )
