Overall a good series. (  ) thewestwing | Aug 12, 2022 |  A bit of disappointment, I was hoping for a grand finale but it ended with a whimper. The first two-thirds of the book is glorious, but then it collapses. Too many loose ends to tie up, too many characters is my guess. This book is #8 in the Bachelor Chronicles. Lord Langley is just not believable, too much of a cardboard cutout. Minerva, Lady Standon, works well and as long as she's the center of attention, the novel works. I will say that Elizabeth Boyle has some twisty family trees that make it necessary to check the family tree at the front of the book a couple of times.
