A rather lackluster collection of stories by some of Ireland's best known female writers (Maeve Binchy, Patricia Scanlon, Marita Conlon-McKenna, etc.). ( ) oh my goodness - over al this book was pretty terrible - there is a run of about 8 stories in the middle that are just too terrible - the one upside was that it really gave me some hope that I could be a published author if this is what the best of Ireland is writing. there are maybe 2 or 3 stories that I thought were solid and I will be taking note of their authors - but it was not really worth the pain of slogging through all the other stories.
