This book returns to the Ozarks, even though Wright lived in Tucson. (The others were the trilogy: Shepherd of the Hills, The Calling of Dan Matthews and God and the Groceryman. This story contasting a life of the city bred gentleman and the country life of his origins is similar to The Mine with the Iron Door, without the Indians, but with bad guys nevertheless. It advances Wrights thesis that the simple country life is the best.
