In a war-torn future United States, fifteen-year-old Tessa, her childhood friend Gideon, now a traumatized military hero, and Dek, a streetwise orphan, enter enemy territory and discover the shocking truth about a war that began more than seventy-five years earlier. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Always War puts to mind of an image of a boy pretending to be his father by wearing his clothes and shoes. Similarly, this book passes off as a novel, but by all measure it feels like an over padded novella. In both cases, the differences ended up highlighting the lack (of height/story) even more. Seemed like a mix of Ender's Game and Hal the computer from 2001: A Space Odyssey but it was an interesting, compelling read. In a war-torn future United States, fifteen-year-old Tessa, her childhood friend Gideon, now a traumatized military hero, and Dek, a streetwise orphan, enter enemy territory and discover the shocking truth about a war that began more than seventy-five years earlier.
