No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. Raccontato dal punto di vista di Abby, la sua storia con Travis Maddox. Un libro bello, avvincente e personaggi che mi hanno intrigato ( ![]() Beautiful Disaster should be renamed to just disaster. Honestly. It actually scares me that people think that whats-his-face is swoon-worthy. Or that they want a relationship like they had/have. People please. He is a psychopath. I would have no problem reading this book if it was intended to highlight abusive relationships and deal with the effect abusive relationships have on people but instead it was made to glorify abusive relationships and make women think that the reactions this guy had to things is normal. Being told what to wear? Not normal. Destroying your apartment because you woke up and the girl your 'in love' with isn't there? Not normal. If he had started beating her in the book would you have been surprised? Honestly? Ugh. I just read some 5-star reviews for this book and now i'm just done. I can't. Ladies, I really hope you never find a relationship like this one because you deserve better. This is my second time around with this book and I've dropped my original rating from 3 stars to 1. I remember sort-of enjoying reading this the first time because there was so much WTF going on. Underground fight clubs, secret identities, gambling and fights in Vegas? All I was waiting for was a secret baby and an unexpected inheritance from an eccentric millionaire uncle. I do recall being disturbed by the two protagonists being so seriously emotionally abusive towards each other but at the time I was willing to look past it. Not so much this time. Either I have gotten a lot less tolerant of this bullshit or I was drunk for the entire first reading. The way the 2 protagonists treat each other is pretty horrifying. Travis pulls some super-possessive caveman bullshit almost from the very beginning of his relationship with Abby; Abby fucks with Travis' head almost unforgiveably. They lie to each other constantly. Travis beats up a friend of his on at least 2 separate occasions for saying something gross to Abby. Abby sees Travis' violence as proof of his twoo-wuv. But if your partner is beating the shit out of anyone who says something nasty to you, or who tries to dance with you, or even looks at you sideways, this is a clue that you are seen as a possession, not a person. THIS SHIT IS NOT ROMANTIC. It is gross. Lastly, the writing itself is pretty clunky. It's written in first person (not my favorite), it doesn't really flow well, and goes on for way too long. The story could have stopped 150 pages before it did and it would have felt complete. I read lots and lots of fiction, because Real Life, I have enough. I understand that what we read can shape the way we think, but I don't believe that people can't tell tell the difference between fiction and reality. I mean, I love Epic Fantasy but I don't believe a dragon is going to swoop down and eat all of the virgins. I love Historical Romance, but I don't believe that the Marquess of Somewhere-or-Other is going to sweep me off to his castle and shower me with jewels. I'm not hating on this book because it sets a bad example. I'm hating on this book BECAUSE ALL OF THESE PEOPLE ARE ASSHOLES. What is with this shit? I feel like almost every NA novel I've read recently is about super-jerks and the dipshits who love them. Edit 8/5/19: Omw to the recycling bin because I don't support racist authors : ) Horrible. Didnt finish. Whats the deal with the cover? I am talking about the woman and her hellish tongue-cover. Is that supposed to be symbolic? She kissed Travis and got infested with his unholy STDS? I didnt understand what made them find each other likable..there is no hint of it before they state it. I read back to see if i missed something.Nope, just like that they are BFF-s. She doesnt want to change him...she accepts him like he is. Even though what he is is a violent sex-addict who uses up women like toilet paper. Have you no pride woman? Or even symphaty for your fellow womankind? The characters are insanely stupid, the writing is below mediocre and the plot is nearly non-existant. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn't drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand. Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants-and needs-to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby's resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis's apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
