A new underwater investigation from the author of Swimming with the Dead... Homicide detective Hannah Sampson has traded the Colorado Rockies for the sunnier climes of the British Virgin Islands. But a murdered tourist whose marriage may not have been all smooth sailing-and colleagues eager to sink her career-have left Hannah navigating the stormy waters of betrayal, greed, and murder as cold as the deep blue sea... Then we and Hannah go down to BVI and that's when the novel goes into high gear. On her first day she gets assigned a missing person case. Of course, this is a mystery, so it doesn't stay that way too long and Hannah starts in on a case that has many many twists and turns.
It was a fairly typical mystery with a bit of thriller thrown in near the end.
It was the characters that were great. There were the characters we'd met in the last book like Peter and James. But t hen there was a new character, a Deputy named Jimmy, who was sorta paired up with Hannah, and Elyse, another person who lives at the same landing Hannah does. They both have such rich stories and their characterization just made me want to get more from them in the story.
All in all I really liked the novel. ( )
