Apunta't a LibraryThing per saber si aquest llibre et pot agradar. No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. There was a lot of things going in this book and there was no conclusion or wrapping up or any feeling of closure what so ever in this story. I understand (sorta) the need for cliff-hangers when you write series, but please just don't stop the book in the middle! It was kind of like the author thought: So I have many mysterious things going on so I think I will just stop here before I reveal anything. So not cool! SUMMARY: Perdita keeps have dreams about some beautiful eyes. She thinks nothing of it until the possessor of those eyes walks into her classroom. She is instantly drawn to Nathan and she feels like there's a spark between them, but she can't figure it out. At times he seems very nice, flirty, even maybe in love with her, but at other times he seems cold, moody and ignores her. (Sound like any other popular YA paranormal novels?) She can't figure out this boy, but in the meantime she has other issues. She's finally taking a stand for herself against her grandmother and father, who have taken opposite sides of the fence raising her, after her mother ran out on them years ago. Then there's her new friend Amelia, who is also the sister of Perdita's crush. And her old friends Tammie and Joey, who may be getting together and having major issues. Then there's the issue of her name (OK, not really, but I kept thinking of the dog Perdita in 101 Dalmatians). THE GOOD: All of Perdita's relationships were unusual, especially as the book progressed. This is not necessarily a good thing. But nonetheless, each individual relationship seems genuine. Altogether, it's grounds for disbelief and skepticism, but I feel like each relationship on it's own makes sense and is well done. While I wouldn't say the plot was terribly original--many of the elements in the books can be found in other YA paranormal books--it was nonetheless well written and well put together. THE BAD: As mentioned above, Perdy is in several unusual relationships. Her overprotective father, her absent mother, her vicarious grandmother, her vindictive ex-best friend, her absentminded cousin, her indecisive maybe-boyfriend, her tarot-reading new friend... It is odd that one person would have so many strange relationships in her life. But in a paranormal novel? It's definitely grounds for skepticism. The paranormal aspects didn't manifest itself until near the very end, but since I knew it was paranormal, I kept wondering what was up with this odd cast of characters--will this person turn out to be a flesh-eating villain? etc. I still wonder, actually. Of all those relationship above, especially the "human" ones--is one not who he seems? Another quibble is I didn't really feel like the real plot started until the very end of the book. There's a lot of relationship struggles, friendships built and ruined, romanced started, etc., for the first 3/4 of the book. But the real issue--that of another pack's threat--is only hinted at for most of the book. Then when Perdita finds out they're werewolves--and her connection--the plot starts moving. CONCLUSION: Overall, I enjoyed this book. Quick read. Interesting characters. Good conclusion but a bit of a mystery to keep you going. I may read the next books in the series. Perdita Rivers has spent her entire sheltered life being told what to do. Lately, she's felt ready for a change, and the universe seems to agree. Her new best friend's brother is the boy of Perdita's dreams. Literally. Even though he plays hot and cold, she's sure there's more to it, but she's kind of distracted by the sense she's being followed - not to mention the rumours of wild animal sightings that seem to mean more to her new crush's family than they should. Perdy's on a mission to find the truth, but maybe the truth is the danger she should hide from, after all. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
