NCLA Review: When individuals consider the Book of Revelation, there are usually two potential dangers that occur: avoiding reading it entirely or getting obsessed with its details. Skip Heitzig often succumbs to the latter in his book especially when he presumes to know exactly what God says about the last days. Interpretations of Revelation have been debated since the 1st century and will continue until Jesus once more returns to earth. The best parts of Heitzig’s writing are when he emphasizes that Christians should live their daily lives in readiness and anticipation of Christ’s return. Also worthwhile is his encouragement to not shy away from Revelation but to read it as a blessing from God. He seems to forget that Revelation is not a precise schedule of future events but a word of encouragement and hope that no matter how bad things may seem, God is always in charge and will ultimately triumph.
