I'm so sorry. REALLY, I almost feel ashamed, too. Maybe I'll give a shot to the movie one day but meh, it seems to be so... Cheap and boring like the book. Really a fast engrossing read. I cried - which rarely happens when I am reading. This was a book that was suggested I read before I saw the movie. It is also one that I put on hold at the library along with several others, and then had to pick between to read once the all came available at the same time. I didn't hate the story or the characters, too much. I finished it. I looked forward to reading it 75% of the time. I like Louisa, but found her opinion of assisted suicide extreme, and then her falling in love...I kind of missed when that happened exactly. Will was not an easy character, even when at his best. I let him go rather quickly. I was most sad about Lou's story of the maze and happy that Will had the reaction he did. this book was an emotional roller coaster but i love it so much. i am positive this will not be the only time i read this book
It’s a curious phenomenon that in this digital age — in which thoughts that once emerged quietly and gradually on paper have been overtaken by instantaneous visual and audio impressions that are swiftly taken in without really being absorbed — the rapt viewer sometimes needs to be jarred, slowed down and forced to look inward. In “Me Before You,” circumstances lead noncontemplative people to contemplation...Moyes’s heroine, if Lou can be so styled, may not be heroic; her male counterpart may be nobody’s idea of a leading man — and yet with Lou and Will she has created an affair to remember. "They had nothing in common until love gave them everything to lose Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life--steady boyfriend, close family--who has never been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex-Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after a motorcycle accident. Will has always lived a huge life--big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel--and now he's pretty sure he cannot live the way he is. Will is acerbic, moody, bossy--but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living. A Love Story for this generation, Me Before You brings to life two people who couldn't have less in common--a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart? But I'm terribly amused right now. There is something to be said about a sad story told with humour.
It's inspiring, in a way.
It broke my heart, but I'm glad that I've read it. (
