The most controversial book on family violence published this year was initially banned from major book chains after a boycott campaign in New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and the U.K. "Breaking Silence" is the story of a mother's journey to hell and back, and the search for justice for her twins in the face of a backlash from a society that turned its back on her. Breaking Silence is the story of a mother's journey from an abusive childhood through to the non accidental deaths of her twin son's Chris and Cru Kahui, and a search for justice against a backlash from a judgemental society that didn't want to hear the full story. The July 2012 coroner's report concluded that the children's injuries occurred "whilst they were in the sole custody, care and control of their father". An incredibly sad topic that is all too common in this country. Glad I have read it. ( )
