Daisy Low was an eccentric woman in the Victorian age, with her love for the outdoors and sense of adventure. She traveled all over the world and did many exciting things, but she was looking for a sense of purpose. When she traveled to England and saw the Boy Scout organization and its' Girl Guides offshoot, she was inspired to create her own version for American girls. Daisy's began working hard to found what will later become the Girl Scout organization that exists today. Some people disapproved of an organization encouraging young girls to exercise, spend time outdoors, and learn outdoor skills, but the Girl Scouts still grew rapidly. This organization retains its original values still of diversity, inclusion, a belief that girls can do anything, and a passion for the environment. This was a well-written book telling the story of an organization that many kids are familiar with. I really liked the writing style and loved the illustrations, as they were both very playful and highlighted Daisy's passion and adventurous spirit. ( )

This book is about the creation of the girl scouts and how Juliette Low paved the way for young girls to find their purpose. This would be a great book to use for teaching a class about finding what they love, and how to achieve goals that they may want to meet. It also gives girls the opportunity to learn about a program that is still going today, and how it came to be. For all of these reasons and because I think this would be great to share in class, I gave this book 4 1/2 stars. ( )

This is the story about the woman who started the girl scouts. It is a beautiful story with amazing pictures, and well put together illustrations. I would like to use this book for students to inspire them to do great things. ( )

This book is about Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low and how she was an adventurous little girl when she was meant to be proper. She traveled to England where she discovered the Boy Scouts and a sister group the Girl Guides. She brought this back to America and created the Girl Scouts, which is now a recognized organization all over. This book would be great to use when learning about the history of an organization in the classroom, community, and nation wide. ( )

Daisy was always looking for an adventure during a time when girls were supposed to be dainty and proper. She traveled the world and loved being in nature. When she learned about the Boy Scouts in England and their sister group the Girl Guides, she decided she wanted to do the same thing for the girls back home. She dedicated her life to inspiring young women across the country. Since the Girl Scouts are an organization that most everyone recognizes this book would be a great tool to use when learning the history of the organization. ( )
