In a world with many different races and cultures and mythical beings, where angels walk the ground, our hero has a mission from his king of finding some missing comains and a second mission from his loved one (the king's daughter) to locate the harps that will restore the stairway to heaven. This is a very entertaining reading, a mix of love story, knight tales, with epic battles, great characters and all the ingredients that make this book a great reading. In a sense it reminded me of the complexity of middle earth (Lord of the Rings, J.R.R.Tolkien), with all its races, languages and rich level of details.
The author is a very talented young lady that hopefully will give us many more books in this area of fantasy novel. And definitely I will be reading the first book in this series (Angelaeon Circle), Breath of Angel.

This is a page turner and a must have in the permanent library of any fantasy lover.

Eye of the Sword is the second book in the Angelaeon Circle Series by author Karyn Henley. It takes up where the story left off in book one: Breath of Angel.
Trevin's character intrigued me and drew me into the story from the beginning. His dedication to his quest and his desire to rescue and aid Melaia kept me in the story til the end. I hope the next book in the series comes quickly so I can continue reading and following along on Melaia and her friends' journeys and adventures. This is a good, clean YA book that is well-written and fun to read. ( )

I love adventure stories. The story of good versus evil is always entertaining especially when the author shows that most people are a mixture of good and bad. That is one of the biggest characteristics of Karyn Henley's Eye of the Sword.

This is a book set in a fantasy world very similar to the Middle Ages of Europe. The host of angels, half-angels, and other supernatural figures give the plot so many possibilities. Anything could really happen.

It's the story of Trevin who has had a dark past and has a chance to prove his loyalty to his new king. His plans are quickly thwarted in the first few chapters as he is accused of murder and leaves on a quest that could defeat the First Born. At stake is Trevin's reputation, the love of his life, the life of friends, and the world as he knows it. Along the way, he finds himself looking into the Eye of the Sword and discovering parts of himself he never knew existed.

I did not read the first book. I found that it was hard to understand for the first few chapters with the different terminology used and the different types of people and beings. Once I got the hang of it, the story was much more enjoyable. I would recommend reading the first book before picking up Eye of the Sword.

There were a few places in the story that should have been edited better. Trevin acted surprised to find out his brother was a spy when in reality he knew about it early in the book and was told by his brother. There were a few other instances of such inconsistencies.

Otherwise, it was a good read. I now want to read the first one and get a better understanding of what I read. This is a good book for young adult and adults.

5 Kingdoms sit on the threshold of an upcoming prophecy. There are those that are working hard to make sure that it comes true and those that will stop at nothing to prevent its fulfillment. Now Melaia has been searching to unite the harps if she can find them with the help of Trevin, a man who vows to serve her until the very last breath he has.

Only Melaia's father, King Laetham has promised her hand in marriage to Prince Varic of the Dregmoors in hopes of securing an alliance between the two kingdoms, but Melaia has given her heart to another along time ago. King Laetham will only allow a man of royal blood to marry his daughter Princess Melaia and with time running out, he sees no alternative but to allow the marriage between Varic and Melaia to take place. Will Trevin be able to locate the missing two harps before the marriage vows are complete or will he fall victim to the evil plots of the First Born who is set on making sure the stairway remains sealed forever?

I received Eye of the Sword by Karyn Henley compliments of WaterBrook Multnomah for my honest review. Karyn captured my heart in this incredible new series combining medieval fantasy along with some mythical creatures and an entire race of angels with her first book, Breath of Angel. When I saw that this book was finally available, I had to review this one. I was not disappointed. The quest for the harps continues in Eye of the Sword and we get a more in depth look at the character of Trevin and his family history as it's uncovered chapter by chapter. We also uncover a bit more of the legend of the Wisdom Tree and the restoration of the stairway to heaven that is nearly all possible signs towards the timing this possible prophecy to be fulfilled. As a reader, I am completely sold on the world that Karyn has so elaborately created and know I'll be waiting on pins and needles until the final book is complete and ready to read.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars and those looking for an amazing Christian action-adventure story dealing with angels and the fight between evil and good, then this is a must read for you. I would recommend the first book in the Angelaeon Circle series first, Breath of Angel to get an understanding of Melaia's character and why the need for the quest. ( )

Unexpected twist after the other. Eye of the Sword had me on edge. Trevin slowly recalls his past and learn of who is his. And who he is carries a heavy burden but Trevin is among the most capable despite his spotty past, like being a spy. As he searches the answers for his King and Princess he ultimately find more than he ever thought to but also all that he really needed in order to accept himself.

Princess Melaia is not the type to stand idly by but she is finding herself having to do just that. In book one, Melaia accepted the mission her Mother was trying to complete before her death. Melaia's character is commendable and lovable. She's not one to take the easy way out and is willing to make sacrifices. In fact, those attributes sounds lot like Trevin which is among the main reason they work so well together.

All in all, readers will not be disappointed in the least. The is not one but many climactic scenes that will leave you entertained to the core. It's perfect for YA readers but certainly not limited to. ( )
