The title of this book is what Adam has to overcome through out this book - thinking he is Nobody's Hero. There were two main things that always prevented Adam from giving in to his feelings for Karla and starting a relationship. His guilt over his dead wife Joni and the 25 year age difference between them. As he was recovering from saving Karla from a cougar his defensive's were down and in the midst of a dream and days of being on pain killers made love to Karla. I think the author did a fantastic job of showing us both sides of a relationship between two people with such a vast age difference. Adam has 50 years of pain and regret on his soul where as Karla has all the insecurities of a woman her age. I am in my mid forties and I could still remember having all those feelings and thoughts that Karla did - no matter the age men and women never seem to look or feel they same about something that happens in the relationship. Most of the times the guy is left scratching his head wondering what he did he wrong as Adam did through most of this book. I loved being on the journey with this two as Adam finally conquered all of his demons from the past and Karla finally got her man. As with with the first book this book doesn't just deal with one couple. We get to see how Marc and Angelina's relationship is progressing. And then when something tragic happens in Damian's family that takes him back to CA this reunites him with Savannah who is now a mother and a counselor but who wants nothing to do with him until something sends her running for his protection at the end of the book setting up there book that comes out this year. I loved this book and I am looking forward to all the future ones in this series. (  ) CindySnS | Oct 26, 2016 | I finally gave in and read this book. I wanted to wait, to be closer to the publishing date of the next book in the series (Nobody's Perfect). It's only that the curiosity kept me from being a good girl. I'm glad it did though. If the first two books of this series were good, this was even better. Adam Montague is an amazing man, one that every woman should have in her life, either as a boyfriend, husband, brother, friend. Heck, even another man would be lucky to have someone as Adam on his side. Adam might appear as a cold guy at first, but it's because he is a very suspicious man. He doesn't trust easily. I think he was afraid of trusting someone and caring about someone so much, only to have that someone taken from his life or to be rejected. But he's a very loyal friend, a caring guy with such an amazing heart. For someone so guarded about his feelings, the way he cares for the ones he calls friends and the way he protects them is simply amazing. I loved Adam. Like I said before, he had trouble facing his feelings and trusting, but Karla changed that. I think Karla is one of the very few people who challenges him. And she does that daily, since they first met when she was a scared, runaway teenager. Karla is a sweetheart. I loved her character so much and I loved the fact that we see her grow up since the very first book. I don't think there's anyone more perfect than Karla for Master Adam. I really can't think of anyone better. I also loved the fact that we get to meet Savi again *happy dance* If anyone needs a HEA, then Savi is the one. She's been through so much and she deserves a better life. I just can't wait to see how Damian will try to win her back and how he'll squirm, because let's face it. Savi will keep him on his toes :) And we also find out more about Marc and Angelina and that's always a great pleasure of mine, keeping up with recent events from the characters who already found their HEA. I can't wait for the next book in this amazing series. He really frustrated me at times and I just wanted to shake him. I like to feel what the character is feeling inside, but I thought that they could have spoken to each other more instead of just inside their heads. I am really picking at straws here because I really love this series. I loved the character development and how we get so much more than just the steamy love scenes and BDSM. Would have been better without all the repetitive thoughts of the mc's.
Needed to move at a faster pace.
Needed more suspense.
The adult scenes were intimate and steaming hot.
Very erotic.
Although even they tended to have a small problem.
There was to much 'lecturing' in a few of the scenes about BDSM during the intimate scenes.
This caused me to start skimming.
The first time I read this I was very new to Erotica books and appreciated the information.
This time around I got bored and wanted to get to the meat of the story.
So, if you haven't read this series and you love intense intimate scenes, I highly recommend.
But, it doesn't do well in a Reread.
I think my first rating was closer to 5 stars.
It lost a star with my 2nd read.
