The boys at Linbury Court Preparatory School are eager to speed up the progress of space travel, and none more so than Jennings, whose first task is to find a suitable helmet. But is it really a good idea to take a dome-shaped glass-case, which previously housed a stuffed woodpecker, and place it over his head? Petrified paintpots! I always loved Jennings, to the point that I learned the term "plagiarism" in school, when - at the age of 11, I submitted an essay at school which contained aspects of the hilarious plot from this book. It turns out my English teacher loved Jennings too!

The other great thing about this series, when I was reading it, was that the books ranged in price between 30p and 40p, at a time that it was hard to find a children;s book for less than a pound.

Most people confuse Jennings with Just William, but in my opinion Jennings is better. It is a pity that more people did not discover this wonderful series. ( )
