This is not one of my favorite books by her but it is still quite good. Her writing style always engages me and I find at least one character in every one of her books that I can relate to in some way. So maybe for that reason it had an authentic conversational feel to it, as if I was having a series of chats with an author/wife/mother/friend who had a lot of opinions and thoughts about failure, success, writing, faith, relationships, family, and life in a small town as well as living in New York City. I didn't agree with everything L'Engle declared as fact, nor did she explain everything as clearly as I would have liked. But her writing style was honest, and it was intriguing to grasp the sense of a real person, with a multitude of layers and complexity of thoughts and feelings.
