Tandy Angel is the daughter of mega rich parents who own a pharmaceutical company. One night her parents are killed and no-one has access to their impenetrable New York apartment. Only Tandy, her twin brother Harry, her little brother Hugo and her mother's personal assistant were there that night. Could one of them have killed them? And what about Tandy's Uncle Peter who stands to gain the most, not to mention her older brother Matthew who hated his parents with a passion? Tandy makes it her mission to try and find out what happened and on the way she uncovers some very dark secrets in her parent's life. The biggest one is that all the Angel children seem to have been given performance enhancing drugs from birth, hence the reason why Tandy is so smart, Harry is musically gifted, Matthew is a super athlete and Hugo has the strength of a man even though he is only 10. Could one of the brothers have found out and killed them? Or, was it Tandy herself, the unreliable narrator, who has gaps in her memory from therapy and drugs, who decided to kill her parents? Patterson's style is very easy to read but I kept feeling that it was a all a bit trite and not really fleshed out as a story. I'm sure that YA will love it, but I just thought bits were way to convenient, i.e Tandy finding the locket that uncovers her mother's affair and also the key that unlocks a secret lab - all a bit too easy. Wow. James Patterson has done it again. This book started off very differently from his others, but you can still tell it is written by him. I wasn't sure what to think of it at first, but the story quickly pulled me in and made it hard to put it down. As always, James Patterson has another great success! I can't wait to read the next one! I really did enjoy this book. I like the narrator, Tandy. I enjoy how it's narrated! That's what really made me get into it. I liked how you never really knew who did it until the end. You think you suspect one person, then something comes up that gives you doubt, even if its just the smallest amount of doubt. The closer I got to the end of the book, I had the I like it BUT... thing going, well, that but is gone, kinda...I think the but was the fact it was a little longer than I thought I should have been, a bit drawn out and too much information in some areas, but other than that, I still really liked it. This was my first James Patterson book. I do plan on reading book 2 in this series (I guess it's a series, or a duo-logy..I only know of the second book)...The second book is called "The Private School Murders (Confessions, #2)" and it looks like it's due to come out October 7, 2013. If you like James Patterson, you've never read him, or even iffy about him, this book is worth a try. This is one of his YA novels. Reading this book makes me want to at least take a second look at his others, even if I don't get into the others....I am willing to at least see if I'd be willing to try.. To purchase this book, or any other book, you can go to: http://www.thriftbooks.com/?affiliateID=429 (any issues with the link, let me know, I'll try to figure out how to fix them) :-) Not quite the normal James Patterson book, but I really did enjoy it. Yes if you don't follow along it can be confusing, but it was not that hard to figure out what and why Tandy was writing how and what she wrote, wow was that not confusing!? lol!. For those who enjoy mystery, suspense, thrillers, and YA you will enjoy this book. A very fast read as the chapters are short, which I did enjoy. I do not like when you read a book that has chapters that are as long as an entire book. Therefore, I did enjoy the short chapters. This book is about the Angel family and how they deal with the tragedy of their parent’s demise. They also have their personal demons to deal with as well, while determined to find out whom, why and how their parents were murdered. Tandy was an intriguing character; I really liked her strong personality and admired how well she could hold herself together through the ordeal of being a suspect, her parent’s murder, while trying to be strong for her siblings. They all put their heads together and go to work to find out why their mother had so many secrets and why Hugo seen their father coming out of a secret room. They find out their father was not forthcoming about the financial devastation the family was going to endure. Their parents were not as rich as they were living, they begin to wonder how they are going to live, will they be separated from one another, and what will happen to Matthew? This is going to be the first book in a series for YA mystery/suspense readers. I cannot wait to find out what will come of the Angel family. If you are a James Patterson fan I recommend this book weather you are a teen or an adult, I believe you will enjoy this book as I did. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

I mostly liked Tandy, although she was a bit insufferable at times. She is one of those characters who knows absolutely everything, and yet is still really stupid. She jumps to conclusions, doesn't approach is very analytically at all, and takes a long time to come to conclusions.
I disliked that the character whose bisexuality is hinted at is also the coldest, possibly villainous, character. Stop using the LGBT villain trope, it's tired and boring, and it would have been so much better to have one of the children identified as LGBT.
It wasn't terrible, but it definitely could have been better. (
