This traditional fairy tale by the famous Brothers Grimm demonstrates the importance of humility, gratitude, and kindness. In this book, a shoemaker and his wife, both of whom embody these virtues, are rewarded for their goodness of character. The Elves and the Shoemaker, therefore, is a nice story to read to young children as it teaches them morals through the excitement of fantasy. My favorite element of this particular book, however, are the illustrations. They are beautiful, and I loved searching for the stealthy little elves on every page! ( )
