Couldn't put it down. A great wrap to the series. Can't wait to see the movie next year!! This was definitely my favorite book of the series. It was non stop exciting all the way through. The middle part did not lag like it did in the other books. I loved hearing the story from Ethan's point of view. I didn't care as much for the section narrated by Lena. She is not as likable a character as Ethan is. This was a fitting end to the series. Lots of issues are resolved. We get another intriguing view of the otherworld and the afterlife. We get resolution to the Abraham and Sarafine story. Ridley is back, which I loved. We learn more about Angelus, and meet some interesting new characters. This is a story of love, and how far one would go for it. I didn't enjoy that opus as much as the previous ones, maybe because it's difficult to climb down from the emotional roller-coster that were the other books in the series. In this one, the conclusion is as clear as a mountain stream and you can see it come way before the last page (which doesn't mean there isn't a surprise here or there). There was a death that was a bit easy in my mind; I expected more of a fight before. I liked Xavier. He's a new secondary character, very interesting. That said, this book wraps everything up in a rather satifying way. 3,5/5. It begins with a death. It ends with a death. The death at the end broke my heart, but felt oh, so right (like scratching a mosquito bite - it's painful, but at the same time gives you satisfaction). The chapters following Lena annoyed me to no end (despite being a caster, in this book she's wholly unremarkable personality-wise). Linc was the only redeeming factor of these chapters. I loved the introduction of Xavier - he was a tragically sad and beautiful character. I hated that the overall conflict in this book turned out to be a "remarkable and unique" individual against "the tyrannical and corrupt oligarchy" - YA fantasy is so effin' cliche this past decade. When Ethan wakes after the chilling events of the Eighteenth Moon, his one goal is to return to Lena and his loved ones, while back in Gatlin, Lena vows to do whatever it takes to bring Ethan home--even trusting old enemies and risking the lives of those Ethan left to protect.
