This is the book series for Kansans. The plains are brought to life in her breath taking stories. It makes life on the prairie seem like the best life their is, and maybe it is. I enjoy Kansas, and I believe this is a way to show the greatness of Kansas to the world. These books are something everyone needs to read. Historical Fiction. ( )

Laura and her family decide to move onto Native American territory because it was rumored that the government was going to allow them there. Settlers are worried they might be attacked, but Pa becomes friendly with one of the Native American Chiefs. In the end the family has to move off the territory because soldiers are ordered to remove them. My mom read me these books when I was younger, and they never really peaked my interest. They could be interesting for other children, but I didn't really enjoy them. This could be because I didn't realize what was happening in the story and it kind of just went over my head. I do think this book brings up questions that can be beneficial to ask kids such as did Laura's family have the right to move onto someone else's territory?
