It tells about Henry Toivo, a kid who went to Vietnam and never returned. It is the story of men who had been in Vietnam and returned, who felt that they owed a debt of honor to him, his parents and the girl he left behind. Included in the group is also a man who had not been in the war but had fallen in love with the girl, lived with her, had children with her but who she refused to marry until the fate of Henry was known for sure. It also includes a woman who had barely escaped with her life as a young girl from Vietnam and her nightmares about it.
