The movie was really good ( ![]() More of a 3.5 stars but alright. It was a really nice build up to the ending scenes, although I can’t give it a 4 star rating because I did get a bit bored around the middle of the story because not much was happening, but after that the action restarted so it was all good. I wish I could read that for the first time again. I've never watched any version of this, so I didn't know much about the story going in. Even half way through I was still unsure if he was a man or a ghost. The translation was good and pretty modern making it easy and beautiful to read. I loved all the details and side characters, the twists and turns of the Opera House, Leroux created a beautiful, terrifying setting that came to life. Loved every bit of it I loved this book. I have seen many of the movie adaptations and the stage shows and I didn't expect to like the book as much as I liked the visual adaptations. I've never read a full book written earlier than 1909 and I have to say I enjoyed the story, the writing, the characters and everything. I would recommend it to anyone who has seen any of the phantom of the opera films or shows and wants to know more, or to anyone who is a fan of classics (romance, horror ect).
