Berenstain Bears teach about many concepts. This money management lesson was short and simple, great for the youngest spenders to get an idea of how they might react if they get an allowance. The illustration leaves room for questions during a read-aloud. Little listeners can think about what they would do with an allowance. Banking is introduced briefly at the end and there are reproducible checks you could copy and use for a check writing activity. Really cute, really simple. ( )

37 months - O always enjoys this series. A good introduction to money although I would never just hand out an allowance without expecting some tasks to be accomplished around the house in exchange. I liked the idea of introducing a savings account and showing kids how checks are written.... O's a bit young for that at 3yrs. ( )
