This Caldecott Medal book is a kids favorite. Maybe its because of the simple story line. Maybe it's because of illustrations. It is a great story to use with elementary students when working on making predictions (Why did he take the hat? Will he make it to the tall grass? Will the big fish get his hat back? How did he get his hat back?).
