I really enjoyed this Holiday Season romance. I voluntarily chose to review this story and I've given it a 5* rating. I so enjoy Debbie Macomber's books and I was not disappointed with this. With four spirited angels in the background, there was no shortage of mischief going on around in this story. A good length story with enough fun and good feels to make a lighter impression. ( )

Digital audiobook read by Kimberly Farr
2.5**

This is a romance set during the holidays, featuring a restaurant chef vs a food critic, with the help/interference of four angels. Angels Shirley, Goodness and Mercy have a new apprentice angel, Will. On New Year’s Eve they make a quick orientation trip to earth, and Will, in his excitement, causes Lucie Farrara and Aren Fairchild to meet. But they weren’t supposed to meet this early in their lives and Angel Gabriel is pretty upset with them for interfering. Fast forward a year later and the angels have to fix the situation.

This is a typical schmaltzy Christmas romance with more than a little humor thrown in. Some of the situations are downright ridiculous, and the angels, for all their good intentions, seem mostly inept. But it’s a fun read and everything turns out okay in the end. (Surely, you’re not surprised to read that.)

Kimberly Farr is a talented voice artist and she does a fine job reading the audiobook. She kept the action moving along and it was easy to follow. I was a little confused a few times about which angel was speaking, but it really didn’t matter all that much. ( )

I'm giving it 3 stars because I enjoyed the story of Aren and Lucie and I enjoyed Lucie's relationship with her mom, Wendy. I also liked the sibling relationship between Aren and Josie. However, I felt the story could have been told without the angels being in it at all.

I realize Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy are apparently beloved characters, but I found them silly. Yes, God is a God of forgiveness, but he's also a God of consequences. If Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy truly are consistently ignoring the rules for Prayer Ambassadors as well as not following Gabriel's instructions, I can't see God letting them continue to be Prayer Ambassadors for Him. What's worse is that they don't seem to have learned from their past mistakes. ( )

I really enjoyed this story about a couple who randomly meet 'early' by an angel's mistake and then lose touch and how the angels get them back together. A restaurant critic and a restaurant chef are the main characters and sparks fly when an unflattering review is printed about the chef's restaurant. Great read! ( )
