Imagine, if you will, dear reader, if, instead of Egyptology, Amelia Peabody had wanted to study dragons, and found a way to do so ... Isabella is such a great character in her own right, you don't need to imagine it, go and read this book instead! A great introduction to a great character and her adventures. I look forward to reading/listening more. ( ![]() I really enjoyed this alt-history scientific treatise and memoir. A solid story, a winning (and quite funny) heroine, and a very convincing adventure. This is one of the most interesting books I've read lately, which is why I now have some rather high hopes for the rest of the series. I absolutely loved the main character, the period of her life, from her childhood to early adulthood, is very interesting to read about. She's caring, sarcastic, brave to the point of being reckless, and extremely passionate about dragons. This book, while written as a sort of memoir, is filled with adventures, mysteries, and dangers which lurk beneath the surface of a fairly innocuous-looking book. Do not be fooled by the pretty cover and innocent-sounding summary, you'll be surprised by the contents of this book. Also, I warn you, by the end of the book, you WILL have your heart broken. I believe this is written for youth but I found this very fun to read. I started reading the ebook and then borrowed the audiobook, which is read by Kate Reading who I really enjoy as she has been one of the narrators for a series I have been enjoying for some time. I am very much looking forward to the rest of the series (5 books!). At first I wasn't sure if I felt only lukewarm toward the book, but then there's nothing like This book was so fun, with a good balance of serious to make it more complex. The memoir-style, with the narrator adding tidbits from the future and lessons learned, added a brilliant layer that prevented the story from falling flat and just took the whole thing to the next level. I can't wait to read book two. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
