In seven letters to a fictional correspondent, Steve Chase describes his spiritual journey among Quakers. The writer introduces the Quaker way to a newcomer in language that is personal and gentle, while offering powerful inspiration through stories. This is an excellent resource book for "Introduction to Quakerism" courses at local Meetings. The format makes the material quite accessible and very readable. The Appendices cover New England Yearly Meeting's Advices & Queries, taken from their Faith and Practice, which is not all that different from other East Coast progressive Friends Meetings. Chase is a Christocentric Friend without, I think, shutting out other more non-Christ centered Friends. He does not address nontheistic Friends, and I sympathize with this omission: I have never figured out what it is one "worships" if one does not have a sense of the Holy. ~~~ In reading this a second time during a Pendle Hill online course led mainly by Marcelle Martin (excellent teacher!), I was moved more deeply by this introductory work. Like many (most?) spiritual books, it meets the reader where the reader is at that point. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
