For Jessica and Elizabeth, the sweet life begins at 30...

From Francine Pascal, creator of Sweet Valley High and author of the New York Times bestselling Sweet Valley Confidential, comes the second novella-length installment of the groundbreaking, six-part, e-serial, The Sweet Life, continuing the adventures of beautiful blonde twins Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield and the gang from Sweet Valley.

Three years after the events of Sweet Valley Confidential, Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield are back in Sweet Valley and inseparable once more. But Jessica, now a mother, finds her marriage to Todd hanging by a thread. Meanwhile, Lila Fowler, reality TV star extraordinaire, embarks on a risky scheme that could win her fame but cost her everything. And the scandal rocking Sweet Valley deepens for Elizabeth and Bruce, who find themselves at odds when loyalty conflicts with the need for the truth. The Sweet Life #2: Lies and Omissions picks up right where the first episode leaves off, and the stakes get even higher!

This book is crazy. I liked the idea, but I totally forgot how things from previous books are repeated again and again in each book. ( )

The Sweet Life: Lies and Omissions book two continues with Jessica, Todd, Elizabeth, Bruce, Lila and Ken. In this book, readers find that Jessica and Todd's relationship is on the rocks still. Jessica has made a big mistake. She slept with Liam O'Connor. Jessica figures though that it was a one time thing and as long as Todd does not find out, she can make things right and get her family back together.

Elizabeth has found Robin Platt. She is the intern that is accusing Bruce of sleeping with her. Once Elizabeth hears Robin's story, Elizabeth starts having doubts about Bruce's innocences. Especially, when Bruce's story has some holes in his story. With Elizabeth wanting to protect Robin, her and her relationship with Bruce becomes strained.

Lila is determined to win back her husband, Ken Matthews. She will not let some other housewife have her husband. Steven Wakefield and his partner, Aaron are adjusting to their life together with their baby girl, Emma.

Caroline Pearce is Sweet Valley's resident bitch. This is why when she learns that Jessica and Liam slept together. She can not wait to spill the beans on this juicy gossip.

First off, I like the concept of this mini series of books. It is like reading about a soap opera. With the old Sweet Valley books, the twins did find themselves in trouble but nothing that they could not deal with and usually by the end of the book, everything was back to normal. Not this time. Grown up Elizabeth and Jessica have to deal with the real world.

Jessica is her usual self. She gives into temptation too easy and falls into bed with Liam. Still not too sure about her and Todd together. While, I know Elozabeth and Todd probably would not have lasted, I still can not picture Jessica and Todd as a couple who have a son. Todd has trust issues with Jessica. I can not blame him.

There is no change with Elizabeth either. She falls for Robin's story too easily. Not to say that maybe it is true but if she really loves Bruce like she says she does, then she would have his side until she learns the truth. Also, Lila is acting like a spoiled brat. She has a great husband in Ken but she of course can not see it until it is too late.

Steven and Aaron make a nice couple with their daughter Emma. However, their story did not really help add anything to the main story line.

I am getting into this series more and more. I am hooked. This series is a guilty pleasure without all the calories. Can't wait to see what craziness happens in book three. ( )

I am still enjoying this. All the drama is kind of set up like a Days of our Lives plot arc. (lol)
Todd needs to get out of the 1950's with his traditional man/hero ideas, just as much as Jessica needs to quit looking for instant fixes, Lila needs to get a life PERIOD, and Lizzie should get out a bit more! And Aaron- I think if I were Steven I would have put my foot down immediately. The world doesn't need two Jessica Wakefields!
Still, I continue reading the novellas as the come out pretty much in one sitting and enjoy it. ( )

After two installments, I have to admit that the "Sweet Life" is a solidly better book than "Confidential". Yes, the books are moving forward with the insane pairings from that wretched book....Liz is with Bruce, Jessica with Todd; Lila with Ken Matthews and (gulp) Steven Wakefield is with Aaron Dallas. I was drawn in by the first installment of this e-serial and "Lies and Omissions" keeps the Sweet Valley scandals moving. We learn more about Bruce and his accuser. Liz is back to being her too good to be true and somewhat condescending self. She is lying and actually protecting Bruce's accuser while still trying to act like she is supporting Bruce. I can't imagine Bruce is really guilty of these charges but we will have to see as the story unfolds. He definitely had a shocking, `oh no, he didn't!' moment in this book. There is definitely going to be a some fallout after Ken starts dating Lila's new rival, and Caroline Pearce is up to her old tricks spreading gossip like wildfire. Can Todd and Jessica ever make up after he finds out what happened with Liam? We even get to visit with Aaron and Steven in a somewhat humorous scene that ALMOST makes me forget this `jump the shark' pairing.

Yes, I really enjoyed this installment. Darn it! I didn't want to based on principal because of what crazy things had been done to my beloved characters but I definitely think with "Sweet Life" things are getting back on track. I will say that two big inconsistencies still bothered me. We are told that Lila never liked Bruce and we are told that Jessica always knew him far better than Lila, which just blatantly ignores the couples long pairing as a couple in Sweet Valley University. The part featuring Annie Whitman was a nice addition and I did like that they mentioned some of what happened with her and Jessica in book#10 of the original series but I hate that they mistakenly give Charlie Markus the credit that Ricky Calpaldo deserved. Charlie Markus in the books was always a semi-bum, not quite as bad as smarmy Rick Andover but not a good guy either. I'd really like to see this series bring up more memories of the past and be as accurate as possible. Yet right now things seem to be moving along quite Sweetly. ( )
