Classic retelling of the Three Little Pigs, each pig is eaten and the wolf is outsmarted by the last little pig.

The Three Little Pigs by Harriet Zeifert was not one of my favorites. I didn’t like this version of the three little pigs because of all the death. One reason for disliking it, is the wolf eating the pigs. In this version of the story after the wolf huffs and puffs and blows the houses down he eats the little pigs. I’m not sure what the original version is but I always remembered the little pigs running to the next house where they lived happily ever after in the brick home. My other reason for not liking this story is the death of the wolf. This story ends with the wolf climbing the roof to the chimney. Once in the chimney the wolf falls into a boiling pot of water. I feel everyone dies in this story and I don’t like it one bit. The main idea for this story is gory entertainment. The only other idea I could get from this book would be to build your home out of sturdier materials. This book is a classic story that has been read and redone for ages. ( )

I enjoyed this story for a few reasons. The Three Little Pigs is an all-time classic. The writing is patterned throughout the story. For example, the author has the big bad wolf say that he will huff and puff and blow the little pig’s house down. The characters are well-developed and have believable personalities. The big bad wolf is very scary and we can tell this by his facial expressions. We can also see that the pigs are scared by the look in their faces. I love the illustrations in this book because the pigs look as if they are modernized. For example, the pigs have hats, button down shirts, backpacks, overalls and glasses. This makes it fun and interesting for kids to read. The overall big idea of the story is that when you work together, team work can overcome a bad situation and turn it into a better one.

Summary: THis story was of three little pigs and a wolf. The three little pigs was out into the world on their own. The build three different types of house one of straw, second one of sticks, the last one was of bricks. The first two pigs house didnt stand a chance agabist the Wolf he blew their houses down and ate them. The last pig was a challenge for the wolf he built his house strong from bricks and was able to beat the wolf.

My thoughts: This was one of my all time favorite it showed the mindset of each pig.

Class Extension: Children could learn from this story when building something make sure its strong to stand aganist even a tough old wolf. The could learn that bricks are steady that's why most home are build with them.
