This one was published in 2014, and if you've read Wilder's subsequent work, you can tell. For me what it is missing is the emotion I know this author's capable of evoking. But it's good, interesting and sometimes unexpected, and while it ends as if there could be a sequel, one is not needed as far as our heroes' happiness is concerned. ( )

Damn, Briggs!

I am not happy! :/
How can Charlie and Ethan live with themselves after all that happened, I have no idea.
This book left me mad.

SPOILERS BELOW!!!

===========================

I went through the reviews and I am glad to find out that I am not the only one who is upset about Briggs being disposable. He was treated like crap during the whole book, used and abused through its entirety (except for the first chapter, granted) only to be killed off without a second thought in the end.

While Ethan is at least reflecting on the events of the fateful night and their current predicament, Charlie is perfectly cool with having a bright shiny old boyfriend in a brand-spanking new meat-suit all to himself. Who's Briggs again? Only a person who saved their asses and the rest of the world :/ How can he look into Briggs's face every day and not think how the whole situation is royally f*cked up?

Anyway, I do realise RL is a bitch, but the two MC's are callused jerks. A nice tribute to Briggs in the epilogue might have done the trick, as it is, 2 stars.

And there goes my respect for the author. ( )

Solidly 3.5 stars. Rounding down just because it isn't a four star book for me.

This started off really sad and had a melancholy air throughout. It might have been affected by the fact that I had just read [b:Prey|8393603|Prey (Infected, #1)|Andrea Speed|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348230389s/8393603.jpg|13252424] and was really stressed and upset. Don't worry, though. It's all okay. The sex scenes were hot, especially the one with both in the same body watching in the mirror on the ceiling--yipes, that was hot! The MCs were sweet and the world was definitely interesting--it stood on its own and I wanted more. The ending was weak, though. Still, if Wilder writes a sequel I will definitely read it. ( )
