Even though this is a middle grade book, I'd recommend it to any Roald Dahl fan! Who Was... is a biography book series. Who Was Roald Dahl? provides a lot of information about Roald Dahl's life. I knew that Dahl was wealthy growing up, but I didn't know about the tragedies his family endured, and his experiences in boarding schools. Much of the book outlines his early work for Shell Oil, and his adventures in Africa, and his experiences in the RAF which left him in pain for the rest of his life. We learn of his marriage go Patricia Neal and his own family joys and struggles. Dahl's writing career is seen throughout the book. His writing is always part of his life, but it is not all of his life. He has many hobbies his children's books were only part of his writing career. One of the things I love about this book is the snippets and side stories peppered throughout the story. Everything from the fact that Dahl had most of his teeth pulled because he thought false teeth were easier, to a history lesson about the London Blitz. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
