Synopsis: Doc and Tomlison are going with a friend in search of aircraft that have been missing since World War II. In the process, someone tries to kill them, they find a dog in the Everglades, get mixed up with a drug lord, and befriend a hit man. Doc decides that he is more attracted to Hanna than he thought.
Review: This is one of White's better books. I particularly liked it because parts of it are rooted in an actual military mystery. White proposes that the missing military aircraft were flown by 'Code Talkers' and were being trained to guard nuclear material for the bomb that was dropped on Japan. ( )

Another riveting Doc Ford tale by RWW. After (in my opinion) a drop off in quality a few years ago, Mr. White seems to have hit his stride again in the last three Doc Ford novels. As in the past, the Florida Gulf Coast and Florida history play a main role in the story. Being a Florida resident, I always enjoy novels set in and around the region. Further, I'm a huge history buff and the inclusion of the sub-plot and history surrounding Flight 19 and the Bermuda Triangle were a great bonus for me. Having read all of the Doc Ford novels to date, I was also particularly pleased to see the continuation of the growth of Ford's and Tomlinson's relationship. As mentioned above, I felt this was something that fell lacking for a period of the series development. Wayne's action and plotting are as succinct as ever and the reader is feels a connection not only to the characters, but to the setting as well. Recommended for all fans of Florida writing as well as the casual mystery/thriller fan.

Mr. White continues to put out great Doc Ford stories. The action is fast paced and each of the strangers introduced could be the assassin. Another wonderful story, keep them coming. ( )

This is the second Doc Ford book I have read. I was not disappointed in this one. At times I find Randy Wayne White gets some of the descriptions too detailed and I find my mind wondering but I still enjoy the book. I loved the characters in this book. Randy Wayne White can even write the personality of dog to where you love the dog and want to own him yourself. There were quite a few characters to keep straight and some have multiple names so it can get confusing at times. I enjoyed the plot line. It was different from any I have read in the past. I liked that he took a true story and built a mystery around it. I will look at more Doc Ford in the future. ( )

At first I was enjoying this read. However mid way through the author brought in too many different issues and peripheral characters. I haven't yet finished as it lost my interest. I may force myself to finish. I wouldn't recommend. ( )
