Is this man hugging some sort of architectural element? Not a winner. I liked this book. It seemed to be a return somewhat to the earlier feel of the series. I have a tendency to like stories about the older vampires. The heroine was very nice. She was plucky and very resourceful and it seemed natural that she would respond well to the idea of vampires/immortals given how she was written. I thought Anders was well written and sweet. I liked the scenes from his POV where he was coming to terms with what he felt for her and how he planned to convince her to turn. It was lovely to see so much of Lucien and Leigh. I wasn't as fond of the books that wandered to far from the Argeneaus. This book wasn't part of an overarching plot line which is fine with me. It was more of a day in the life sort of book. I many times prefer that sort. The guys are out on a routine rogue call and one of them meets his life mate. It's all wrapped up in one book and the next one can be another guy on another day. Fans of the series should like this one and it wouldn't be hard to pick up the series here if you were a newby. It would be easy to understand what was going on. After being kidnapped from a rogue, Anders finds his life mate, hoping the rogue didn't turn her permanently away from his kind once she finds out. One of my favs that has nothing to do with the Leo story-line. I find myself wishing I knew a ton more about all these random rogues they hunt down. I think learning/knowing their stories would add a lot of depth to this world. I absolutely loved this book. Once I started it I didn't want to put it down. There were different reasons for me liking so many of the characters I could bore you with the details but I won't. They each just seem to care about each other the way that real family and friends do. They play and joke, they get frustrated and irrational. Reading it just felt like being home but with way more exciting and sexier people. I liked how the story was written and paced. The characters from previous books continue to pop in or are mentioned so you can keep tabs on them and I love that. I always like how there are moments of humor to lighten it up and every so often I get an actual burst where I have to laugh out loud or I just can't help but want to cry or cover my mouth. My emotions always get triggered when I read an Argeneau novel. If you are looking to be entertained pick this up and you will not be disappointed. I will be sending this one as a gift to a few of my friends. I am so glad that I won this on Goodreads it is one of the few Lynsay Sands novels I haven't had to buy myself.
