Great book about facts and oddities in the state of Illinois. Easy read. ( )

It's an extremely interesting compilation of legends and lore from
throughout the state of Illinois (where we live) and we decided to go
through it and pick out various places we'd like to go see for ourselves.
So our vacation this year will consist of a car trip through our own state,
seeing the things not everybody knows about.

There are plenty included in this book, too, from places reported to be
haunted, to wild and wondrous roadside attractions (like Pork Chop Pig in
Moweaqua! or "The Spindle" -- 8 cars on a spike in the middle of a mall
parking lot in Berwyn). There are several of our own local legends and
wonders listed in this book, too, which made for some fun reading. The kids
are having a ball, planning our itenerary for the trip. We hope to go later
this month and should come back with some interesting photographs, if
nothing else. LOL

There's another volume similar to this one titled "Weird USA" and I might be
picking it up for later reading. In the meantime, this one was well worth
the money and I enjoyed the heck out of it. ( )
