In the conclusion of the Conway family saga, we get a bunch of wonderful surprises.
Of the three brothers, I liked Jake the most (I believe that the story improved with which book. Jake is sexy, smart and charming and as something more that, in my opinion, the others don't have. Meg is also a smart, resourceful woman and not a clingy heroine so, points for that.
The addition of a kid, the end of a doubt and a new beginning (need to read it) gives the story a wonderful sense of completion and leaves you with a smile on your face a warm in our heart.
Love it :) ( )

I have heard good things about R.C. Ryan’s work, so when I was given an opportunity to read Jake, I jumped on the chance. If you have read some of my other reviews you know I love a good western romance and I love family series. I got double my joy reading this book. Now that I have read something by R.C. Ryan I will be looking for more of her work.

Jake, is book number three in the Wyoming Sky series. I have not read the other two in the series and I didn’t feel like I was missing out on any major details that interfered with my enjoyment of reading this book. I would however enjoy reading the other two in the series now that I know how fabulous this story was.

Meg Stanford came home to her father’s ranch after his death. I really liked Meg, she is a strong woman that thinks she has life under control. That is until she arrives to take care of her father’s estate and finds not only does she have a ranch with everything that entails to take care, but she has a half brother, Cory she never knew about. Their relationship is strained to start with.

Then there is Jake, the handsome cowboy veterinarian from the ranch next door. Not only is Jake quite handsome but he also has a good heart and is kind. No wonder Meg falls for him pretty quickly. I loved reading Meg & Jake’s story.

This is another one of those books that is full of a wonderful romance but also some really nice family relationships as well. I enjoyed watching Meg and Cory bond as they get to know each other and can share some memories of their father.

There is also a some mystery element to the story and I love a good mystery! There was plenty of drama to keep me on the edge of my seat while I was reading this book. If you enjoy western romances with some mystery thrown in I think you will like this book. You also get the family relationships and values that I found to be a wonderful bonus to the story. ( )

Not only have I added Jake to my library shelves but R.C. Ryan to my list of authors I want to read again. The characters were wonderfully developed and seemed as real people in a rural community. The strong main character and yet created with moral, love and sincerity for others around him. The plot consists of conflicts and happenings that are so smoothly intertwined you can’t put the book down. At the end you wish for the characters to live on and stay a part of your world. Excellent writing. This writing had mystery, conflict, romance and family strength. The only distraction was the book revolved totally around Jake and there should have been more parts where the other characters lived without Jake being right there on the scene.
I did receive this book via goodreads and enjoy each and every word and gladly add it to my library. ( )

Jake by R.C Ryan
This book is mostly about Jake Conway and his growing up on the ranch, his mother died and his father is raising all the kids. He's so caring about animals that he is a local vet now.
On his way home from a call he plays his phone messages and travels to their next door neighbor's house, to see about the colt. Cory Stamford the 7 year old is caring for the colt that is lying down in the barn. Meg, flew in from DC, a half sister and the only relative left, she's a lawyer. Yancy up in the hills with the cattle has no clue of Porter Stamfords death yet.
She hopes to be able to auction up the house, ranch, everything and be back in DC in a weeks time, bringing Cory with her.
Love this series and the locale of Paintbrush and the previous books in the series. I feel like I know the characters and am brought up to date on what's going on with their lives.
His idea to move them all to his ranch might help find out some information from Cory, get closer to Meg and help treat the colt better.
Jake has a lot of admirers and they bake and deliver food to the family ranch. Love the banter among them all, wicked funny stuff.
The mystery of the boys mother just disappearing still had them worrying and wanting to find her...
Meg has mysteries also as the house is ransacked and her rental car tires slashed...
After the funeral she learns many things and is able to smile for a bit. With the dog giving birth they are able to share in a good time together. She contemplates whether she can go along with her fathers wishes by continuing with the working ranch and raising Cory there and maybe joining the local law firm...
But she's acheieved so much in DC and would hate to just give that up...There is danger at the ranch with the break ins and she finds more of her fathers papers and goes through them to really find out what he was all about..
