Though I don't have a company or an outside job, I think this will provide helpful strategies to improve decision-making. ( )

The Heath Brothers do it again: Practical advice for living better. They keep the advice simple, back it up with motivating and memorable stories, and help you make something you do every day (in this case, making decisions) much better. None of the advice is particularly ground-breaking, but they present it in a way that will help you actually remember. And if you can remember how to make better decisions, you'll start actually making better decisions. If you make better decisions in your life, well, then it was worth reading this book. ( )

I feel like I'm good at making decisions, so I had plenty to learn from this book. Spoiler alert: It turns out that I'm NOT good at decisions, I'm just decisive and now I know there's a difference.

I learned a lot of tools from this book for my life decisions and they are very applicable, so that is good. My 3 stars instead of 4 is because I felt like the organization was kind of rambling and all over the place, but not bad enough that I couldn't follow along. I also found myself getting bored and having to refocus my attention on what they were trying to teach me multiple times.

Summary of my review: Great info that we should all learn in school for life. Could have been better with fewer words and better organization. ( )

Checked this out at the library but now have it on my list of books for my bookshelf. I will want this handy to help me maneuver life and decisions with more ease. ( )

I disagree with the idea and title of this book.
Being decisive is NOT the same as making better choices. You can be someone who is decisive but made the wrong choices or someone who is indecisive but made good choices eventually.

I do not think that the formulas laid out by the authors will make you decisive (faster in making decision) but it may help you make better decision.

Anyway, here's the contrarian approach I have as compared to the WRAP method for not so big decision.

1) Narrow your options. You have too many choices. You need to reduce your options to stay focused.

2) Remove all assumptions. Be rational or let go. Stop letting your assumptions cloud your judgement.

3) Act on your ideas. Your emotions is telling you what you really want to do in a deep level. Just take the action and see how things pan out.

4) Prepare to be right and to achieve success. A lot of times, most of the decisions made do not really affect the results by much. It is the team effort, marketing efforts and enthusiasm that made a difference. ( )
