Good psycho-thriller until last few chapters, where it rushed headlong to a finish. ( ) I am not sure what I think about this book. I was confused for much of the book, including the ending. I am not sure what was real and what was imagined. I suppose that is what the author intended. Leon and Natalie are married, and Natalie is going to leave Leon. Leon imagines that he has hurt Natalie while he is sleepwalking. Once Natalie is gone, Leon attempts to find her, but instead finds a labyrinth and many unanswered questions. This is a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing - what is real and what isn't? There are many twists and some are unbelievable, which makes it hard to determine how to feel at the end of the book. This novel was definitely more consistent with the idea of a thriller. This whole novel is told from Leon's perspective and it opens up with him waking up and seeing his wife, Natalie, whimpering and packing her bags. When he wakes up next, she is gone and he is convinced that he has done something to her. Right away, the author caught my attention. This novel can be quite confusing at times because it shifts between different points in time and you get a whole host of information and both the reader and Leon are trying to piece together what is real and what is a dream. This was definitely a very ingenious way of portraying this story; however, it sometimes made the story feel muddled and confusing. I still enjoyed the experience and the mystery behind it all, and the thrill factor was always present! One thing that I really liked that the author did was that he gave an explanation for everything in the end. Without spoiling anything, I will say that the last few chapters before the end explain quite a few misnomers that were present in the story to throw you off. This doesn't mean that I liked the explanation per se but I appreciated the author's effort to make the story make sense to the readers. Overall, I found this to be an interesting novel that kept the thrills high and the mystery engaging. I would give this a 3.5/5 stars because while I liked the ambitiousness of this novel, I didn't really enjoy the conclusion or the confusing aspects as much as I would have liked. This did not affect my opinion of the book, or my review itself. Leon thought he was cured from the rampant and violent sleepwalking of his youth, but now his wife has disappeared. Desperate to find answers, Leon orders a motion activated camera to film what happens when he sleeps--and is stunned to see footage of him descending through a hidden door in his apartment that he has never seen before. This is a very suspenseful and eerie book. I could not put it down. Fitzek keeps the tension ratcheted up and doesn't let go. The plot is so original too, I had to keep reading to know where the story was going. The ending--I won't go into details so as not to spoil it--but that last chapter is amazing, and packs such a punch. There really isn't anything I can think of that I didn't enjoy about this book. Every time I got worried Fitzek wasn't going to be able to live up the level of suspense and mystery he had created, he pulled out another twist. I would definitely recommend this book. It's a quick, extremely suspenseful read that is really original and clever. And that last chapter--worth the read just for that twist alone! Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
